October 2025
October was one of the busiest and most exciting months of my fellowship so far. The leaves in the Hudson Valley turned every possible shade of gold and red, and the whole month felt just as bright and full of movement!
I finally received the plant guide copy back from the designers, which was surreal to see after months of writing, editing and dreaming it into shape with Beth.
We also traveled to T-Space, where we explored their stunning campus and libraries. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to sit down immediately with a notebook and start thinking bigger. I also loved the connection of architecture which I am always very inspired by with my background in design. I’m already planning a trip back to dig deeper into materials that might support the publication project. During the same trip, we visited Bard and the Hessel Museum of Art. As someone who will always have a soft spot for campus museums, it was incredibly energizing to see how they integrate contemporary art into academic life.

On site, October was packed. I finished writing a harvest-themed tour and gave it one two different occasions: twice at our annual Harvest Festival and again on Halloween. I also led countless groups throughout the month, from Catskill Elementary third graders to high schoolers to retirees. Each group brought such a different kind of curiosity, which made every tour feel fresh and alive.

I also made huge strides on the audio guide. I recorded several new interviews and spent a lot of time capturing the walking tour narration. I’m now officially voicing the entire thing! It has been exciting (and a little funny) to hear myself become part of the visitor experience. Hopefully, by Thankgiving the whole project can be live on the Bloomberg app.
I did not get to work on the publication much this month because it is our busiest month here in Catskill so I am excited to dive back into that project for the final months of 2025.

Overall, October felt like a whirlwind in the best possible way. I worked on site more than ever, met so many visitors and watched the landscape shift into full fall color. It was a month of momentum and creativity, and it feels like everything is finally coming together.
